On-Page SEO Checklist Guide To Ensure Google Search Traffic
The Meta title tag and the meta description tag are what Google Users will read when they search your website services or products. This is determined by how much space there is on the Google www.google.com results page.
The Title tag should start with the Focus Search Term aiming for one short sentence selling the page topic. Do not type “Welcome” or “Business Name Ltd” etc. And do not list keywords with commas.
The Description tag should also use the Focus Search Term aiming for two short sentences and will expand on the Title tag.
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE STEPS FOR EVERY PAGE AND BLOG POST YOU CREATE
- FOCUS SEARCH TERM / KEYWORD PHRASE – PAGE TOPIC – What is the Focus Search Term for your page? Use https://www.google.com to start typing your focus search term and use Google Suggestions also called Google Instant Search. Also refer to the suggestions at the bottom of the Google Search page. When you focus on one of the suggestions (search terms), this means you’ll target the most popular search term related to your page.
- PAGE FEATURED IMAGE – Add the page featured image. Name the file with the Focus Search Term, use the Focus Search Term for the Alt tag and image title. Use the correct dimensions for your page and Facebook example 1200px by 628px. Compress the image using resolution 72 dpi and using https://tinypng.com/
- PAGE TITLE / HEADING (H1) – Create your page title starting with the page Focus Search Term. Summarise your page topic. Aim for 65 to 70 characters for one short sentence. Also use this page title for the Yoast Meta Title Tag.
- PAGE URL ADDRESS – Make sure you use the Focus Search Term for the page URL.
- PAGE DESCRIPTION / PAGE TOPIC INTRODUCTION – Create your page description aiming for four to six short sentences (10 words per sentence) to expand on the page title. Aim for 300 characters maximum and use the Focus Search Term. Also use this page description for the Yoast Meta Description Tag.
- PAGE INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH 1 FOR 200 WORDS – Create your page / post’s first paragraph aiming for 200 words. Use the Focus Search Term and write compelling copy to encourage users to quickly understand the page / post topic.
- PAGE BODY HEADING 1 (H2) – Create your page / post’s first H2 heading. Aim for 70 characters for a short sentence. Use the Focus Search Term.
- PAGE BODY PARAGRAPH 2 FOR 300 WORDS – Create your page / post’s second paragraph aiming for 300 words. Use the Focus Search Term and write compelling copy to encourage users to learn more about the page / post topic.
- PAGE BODY HEADING 2 (H2) – Create your page / post’s second H2 heading. Aim for 70 characters for a short sentence. Use the Focus Search Term.

- PAGE BODY PARAGRAPH 5 FOR 300 WORDS – Create your page / post’s fifth paragraph aiming for 300 words. Use the Focus Search Term and write compelling copy to encourage users to learn more about the post topic.

- Aim for 1,700 to 2,000 words of quality content per post.

- Make sure to link your post to external relevant posts. You can also encourage your users to visit your Facebook page. Internal and external linking is very important.
- Always thoroughly proof read for spelling and simple grammar. Create short sentences of 15 words to achieve a high readability score. Also use short paragraphs and bullet points.
- Share every post to social media and your monthly newsletter.
- Document and record every Focus Search Term used and the Blog post URL with publish date.
